Kalahari, The Poconos, And Here Comes Middle School
This weekend, Labor Day in the US, me and my wife and kiddo went to Kalahari Water Park in the Poconos for one last gasp of the summer.
The kid had a blast and did tons of water slides. We’re all so very sore.
Come Tuesday, middle school!!!!!!! Eeeek! I can’t take it. He’s growing up so fast!

We went with my partners parents to their little summer cabin, on a southern isle here in denmark, this weekend. It was amazing, five minute walk from the beach, deer and pheasant casually walking through the garden, *while we are there, talking loudly to each other*
I actually went swimming in the ocean, for the first time in over ten years! We all had a blast and my mood is very much improved, even today I feel so so good.I did end up lobsterized, entirely self inflicted though as I decided against sun protection because I was sad I got NO color last time we were out, and you know, what happened was entirely predictable 🦞
I only snapped a couple of pictures with my phone while i was away, none of them turned out
I think I was too busy just enjoying myself this time haha -

A few weeks ago, I took a memorable trip through Europe with my sons. Our last stop was Brussels, where we explored the Museum of Natural Sciences. We saw incredible dinosaur skeletons, prehistoric creatures, and a fascinating exhibition on human evolution. Highly recommend a visit—just be sure to plan enough time, it’s huge!

I spent the weekend with the kids at the beach. Unfortunately my husband couldn't come with us.
#BrayDunes is a French city at the border with Belgium and it has many hiking paths on sand dunes. It's a protected area and it has a lot of blockhouses, i.e. bunkers used by soldiers during #WW2.

Got back last night from Niagara Falls on the Ontario, Canada side. Me, Mere and Ilan spent 5 days exploring Northwestern NY state and Niagara Falls, Canada.
Was there some bickering, yes. Was there an 11-year-old on the trip who was full of spunk? Yes.
Overall, memories were made! That’s what matters!

Last day in #Corniglia. Tomorrow we are traveling back home with a lot of wonderful memories.

Walking from #Corniglia train station to the village center includes these stairs with 382 steps 🫠! With an average temperature of 28-30°C when going back to the apartment after the beach, the kids almost always refused to take the bus and not only they did force us to go through these stairs, but they did them running 😱. It's so unfair to get old 😭!

@pixelcats we're thinking of visiting #CinqueTerre. I've never been there and it's a very popular tourist spot with plenty of hiking paths crossing cosy villages and beautiful beaches.
It's a 2-3h train ride from Milan, so it's a perfect location!

Today we visited a monument created by the first king of Denmark. The setting depicts the shape of a Viking ship.
We particularly liked the exposition. It was very interactive with pictures and sounds appearing by pushing a button.And best of all it was entirely free!

Yesterday in Copenhagen. It started raining heavily so we just went back to the hotel after visiting Christiania and spent time there and at the playground nearby.
Denmark is really fun for kids. Every place has games or top-of-the-art playgrounds to entertain the little ones.
Today we arrived near Billund. We're so ready for Legoland tomorrow!

Pictures I took yesterday in #aarhus. This city is worth visiting. There are plenty of free or low budget activities.
Walking on the streets of the city center we stumbled upon several graffitis. No cars are allowed, so it's super safe for the kids.

#Dokk1 is a public library like I've never seen before. There are 3 floors, plenty of play rooms for kids, no less than 4 playground facilities outside, private study room, a maker lab with 3d printers and much more.
A miniature of the city is hanging upside down over the road below the building.
The #EndlessConnection fountain nearby compels people to switch section if they don't want to get wet. The kids had so much fun!

The coolest playground on a highway station I've seen. That slide makes you go incredibly fast!

Today we visited #mønstedkalkgruber the world largest #limestone #mine. Extraction stopped in 1956. Visitors can walk for 4 km of official pathways or venture on any passageway they find on the 60 km of available tunnels.
We saw people fully equipped with speleology tools like flashlights, protective gear, etc. and ready to go off track on the narrow caves.
It was truly impressive!

I tried a #surfing lesson today for the first time. 2h in the water fighting waves and trying to get a burpee on the board. It was so much fun! Exhausting but awesome 🤩

We took a trip to Panama City Beach for a few days. It was another nice break from Tallahassee, but also a break from the screens.
In an effort to stay ahead and keep learning, I’ve been working on learning Python through Mimo as well as cybersecurity through TryHackMe. I’ve earned some impressive streaks - over 40 consecutive days - as well as being ranked in the top 3% of THM’s 2 million users. I was bummed that I lost those streaks because of the trip, but quickly realized that it’s okay to take a break from it all and be with what’s really important: My family.
I told myself when I started this new journey over a year ago that while I need to stay ahead and reach my goals, I also can not burn myself out and tune out the family. It’s balancing act. I got back at it again on Thursday - starting back at one.
It's okay to take a break. It's also okay to fall off the wagon. Just get back on and keep moving.
