Join Matt Burke for this fun journey into making personalized pieces with our laser cutter.
Students will start in our #woodshop, learning how to prepare a pre-cut board or live edge slab from a selection of options. Pieces will be cut to size and ready to finish plane, sand and prepare for laser engraving.
Students will then take their prepared board to our #LaserCutter and learn how to engrave a family recipe on the surface.
To make sure we have enough time to complete your projects in class, please submit your recipe ahead so MAXT staff can pre-process your laser cut file."

Sharing a family recipe.
A very simple, delicious and certainly unhealthy one from my family is something we call "Bacon Ricotta".
Ingredients:
1 Package of low sodium bacon
1 Quart of Ricotta cheese
1 package of wide egg noodles
1 Stick of butter.
Directions:
Leave the butter out for a couple of hours to soften or use the microwave to melt. Set aside.
Lay out the bacon on a baking sheet and cook it off in the oven till crisp. Drain off the drippings into a bowl and set aside. Let the bacon cool and chop up into bite size pieces.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and put in the egg noodles. Cook till tender but not too soft. Drain and place back in the pot.
Add the butter, bacon and a splash of the bacon drippings (to taste) and start scooping the cheese in. Mix it together adding more cheese a scoop at a time until it is heavily coating everything. Put the remaining cheese in the fridge for later (leftovers are best with a tablespoon of cheese added while heating.)
Add 2 three finger pinches of salt and mix.
We try not to have this one too often for obvious reasons but always look forward to it!
