alright I guess this is the start of the new vegas thread (playing with viva new vegas extended)

first impressions from my first hours of gameplay: I'm not yet completely bought on the game, mostly the gunplay being.. shaky at best due to tanky enemies and inconsistent accuracy (when I was like lv2 I tried shooting a gecko with a shotgun and it felt like the pellets were actively drawing an outline of the target) (or even funnier, when sunny smiles gave me the varmint rifle at the very beginning to shoot some bottles, NONE of the shots would land unless I got within spitting distance of the targets), I'm pretty sure that'll get better as my stats improve though

I guess the world isn't exactly as monotone as it seems from the outside

one of my major gripes so far besides the gunplay is the incredibly clunky inventory and shop UI, and the way going over your carry weight by even just 1lb instantly turns you into a particularly squishy turtle (though I'm willing to take the blame for that cause only after closing the game I realized I should stash things I don't immediately need back in goodsprings or whatever)

also because I hate myself I started in hardcore, I'm fine with gradual healing, but water and food feel more of a chore than anything, so I might disable it later on if I get tired of it

regardless of the negatives I'll definitely keep playing though, I'm fairly sure the game gets a whole lot better once I get far enough

I leveled up to 25 just now, i think for stealing the X-2 antenna? I literally just loaded it after a day or two
explosives are already at 100 so i have to think of other skills and I've been using my katana a lot and that ninja perk seems cool so I'll put all 10 points into melee, bringing it to 66 #falloutNewVegas

So I've been playing the Big MT. I got the talking armor but i didn't complete all the missions for it, and I've been using my katana a lot. Grenades have been helpful a few times, and i have found some ammo to make them from, but mostly it's katana against mechascorpion.

It seems like on Very Hard enemies will actually respawn so i can't really "clear" an area, but i can hit it again and again for XP and loot #falloutNewVegas

There's a fight coming and i didn't see it until almost too late. So i go about using my katana against this thing. I'm doing ok, i even knock his gun out of his hand but we're both still like 80% HP when i do VATS. Miss Fortune appears on the wrong side of the force field. Apparently she's beholden to forcefield logic like i am because I'm waiting for her hit to get the lobotomite, which can't happen so I'm stuck in no-control-slow-mo. But the lobotomite isn't. They pick up their gun and kill me just fine

I cleared the east side of the plateau and started on the west side. I thought going into X-12 sounds interesting but there's nothing to do until i can break this force field. So I'm chilling, talking to my wife IRL and a recovery suit wearing lobotomite with a rail gun starts to glitch up through the bottom of the force field. #falloutNewVegas

I'm trying to clear the central plateau in Big MT. That mostly means i sneak around with my katana trying to engage lobotomies one at a time.
Them's Good Eatin' makes this much easier to survive but i wish there were some MFC ammo for me to make grandes with #falloutNewVegas

So that new perk might just make the Big MT survivable in hardcore mode with very hard difficulty
After a long introduction where i said every stupid thing i could i went out to find some modules. I went to one location and definitely had to game the terrain and just die a bunch before clearing out enough enemies to fast travel back to home base. I used all my grenades and i was really expecting to find a bunch of MFC ammo in here to make more but so far it's all EC stuff.
So I'm using my katana and my recharger laser pistol now which isn't quite as fun but they don't run out of ammo

I made it and there ten XP for discovering the location got me to level 20, woot!

I put points into survival to get it to 55, and the remainder into sneak. That lets me take the Them's Good Eatin' perk so a blood sausage or thin red paste will appear on half the living things i kill now

I think I'm going to the midnight drive-in movie. It's 20:29 and I'm in Primm, i wonder if I'll make it

There was one caravanned still alive that didn't try to kill me. "There's so many stories of legion raiding parties attacking caravans. They can't all be rumors!" She says standing in a room full of dead NCR soldiers killed by the terrorist from the legion (me)

I thought i would go tell Janet that there's a guy who likes her at Nellis (even though i told that guy i wouldn't, which got an unexpectedly emotional reaction) but everyone at the Crimson Caravan started attacking me when i came in

I sold some stuff to the Gun Runners to get enough caps for the regenerative implant at the NV Clinic but i guess I've already maxed out my implants. I'll need to increase my endurance before i take another implant.
Oh well, I'll just buy a bunch of stimpacks and cure whatever addiction i picked up then
