Getting a few of these - for now they are special order (some time end of next week) for £1 extra, but ongoing stock will be like this in due course (a few months).
Extra 3 GPIO pads (0/1/2) so can be used for extra things - there is an I2C temp sensor client mode in latest code even.

Finally, Ethernet #Faikout in my shop

The two new #Faikout boards.
A simple Ethernet version - has magnetics isolation, but not sure that is good enough for mains isolation for X403.
A more complex opto-isolated S21 and PoE powered module. Much better but can't really certify it is grid safety isolated.
I should have the Ethernet next week to test and list on shop.revk.uk

The new cheaper #Faikout remote does not have the CO₂ sensor, so replaced where that shows on the display with weather forecast icon and temp, from weatherapi.com. Looks good.

I have placement, now to do tracking.
#Faikout PoE Ethernet opto-isolated.
The idea is that the S21 is opto-isolated with good PCB clearance, but also the PoE is an isolated PoE module as well. As safe as I can make it.

Hmm. My beta release of #Faikout on 12th was broken. I had got a long way in debugging when someone suggested that the build had used v6.0.1-dirty of the ESP IDF, and had me previous debug/meddling with LWIP inadvertently broken something. I am very sure I would have got there soon. A clean IDF install fixed it. Well spotted.
Now he owns up and says he used claud! It gave a sensible explanation even (well, did not find the bug, but concluded I must have fucked up LWIP).
I feel -dirty now.

The #Faikout boards work well, but it occurs to me that Ethernet connection for air-con units would be really good for some installations (more reliable and secure).
A simple Ethernet version may be as little as £5 extra, but there is a concern if using with an X403 connection which is at grid power levels. It has isolating magnetics and margins, but still, not certified grid power safety isolation.
So now pondering a PoE version with opto-isolated S21 connection to aircon as an alternative.

Now I am wondering if there is a market for #Faikout modules with Ethernet.
I’ll have to work out the price for such a thing.
No need for PoE as powered from aircon. So just the RJ45, magnetics, Ethernet IC, crystal, and some passives.
Not tracked yet, but viable...

Aaaand after some delay the #Faikout has been deployed and integrated into Home Assistant; had to get the other connector on the Daikin Stylish-end. Byebye cloud! There’s even enough space behind the AC and the wall to squeeze the ESP in later.

@Edent For my #Faikout project (www.faikout.uk) the best way to financially support the project is buy the Faikout boards I sell. There are others that make and sell (big in Australia), and there are a small number of s/w contributors to the project who could, if they wish, make and sell to get some money. But the money for the selling of the boards is clearly for the person making the boards, and so, I hope, avoids any possible argument.
I agree it is tricky though.
