Did ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) for an IT-inept relative who needs (not wants) to travel to Brexitannia and jeez, what a faff.
Then you get to pay £20 in addition to the hour it took to get a photo in front of a white wall and a photo of the passport that their OCR could read and then pay through my Revolut account because their bank blocks foreign payments and each time restart the entire process because there's no login and the session expires and must be restarted from scratch each time.
I guess it is intentionally done this way. Who needs tourists!

After happily running an
innernetmesh network for years, our fibre provider seems to have done something in the last couple of days which broke access from home to the remote machines - everything here couldn’t talk to anything remote all of a sudden.Even swapping the port from 51822 to 110 (pop3 - something that shouldn’t be filtered) didn’t make things happy.
Cue a frantic couple of hours trying to get a Nebula network up. Which involved having to remember how to work
m4because you need 4 files per machine (nasty) but you can embed 3 of them into the 4th (YAML, NASTY) andcppwas a massive pain in the arse for including files into YAML without faff and torture.On the plus side, now it mostly works as before (except everything is now on a single 10.42.0/24 whereas
innernethad clients on 10.42.1/24 but the server on 10.42.0/24. But luckily most things were just talking to the server host anyway.) -
Played a #vinyl record yesterday. A rare occurance these days. We have one of those turntables that has no speed selector switch so you have to take the (heavy) platter off and move a belt on a pulley. Still got it wrong. 45 at 33. Very John Peel. #Analogue #Faff #OldSchool
