Fae Pg 55 is a Faerie Matron or perhaps a Fairy Godmother? Tried something different for skin tones in an attempt to soften the wrinkles. Not sure I'm happy with how it works. But it was a good experiment if nothing else.

It's been a few months since I did a page in my Book of Fae Folk sketchbook. I saw one of the "draw me" reddit post but they specified to draw them as some sort of mystical creature. So I made them into a dark fae.

Not 100% certain what is happening here, but i think the idea is the child (boy?) is crying in the first image. He reappears in the second a few pages later, being comforted by the Faerie Queen. The patch on his shorts (and maybe his bare feet) suggest poverty.

Earlier this summer I read the 1926 fantasy novel "Lud-in-the-Mist" by Hope Mirrlees. In addition to being amused with reading the novel exactly 100 years since its publication, I was surprised at how modern its depiction of Faerie felt. I won't spoil it more than that, but you can get a copy at Project Gutenberg if you'd like to check it out:
