The final session of Fading Suns is in the can. The troupe diverted an assassination attempt on the emperor using a champagne bottle. BRP as a system can make the most capable NPC inert with some lucky dice, and also fix you a TPK no time at all!
In all, the CoC 7th inspired system with push your luck and tiered success ratings on the character sheet worked well.
The challenge was how to engage the characters with the setting.

Last night was another session our BRP/Fading Suns game. Our heroes have arrived at the Byzantiunm Secundus system. So far they've encountered byzantine mazes of bureaucracy, and social maneuvering. Who would have thought? That hard to meet the emperor of all the known worlds?
I'm somewhat tempted to wrap up it, and indulge in my latest "oh shiny!". We might have a break over the summer holidays, and the question is what kind of thing will I have found then?

Another Fading Suns session in the can. I was a bit unsure where the game would go, but decided to prep for the bigger campaign goal. Lucky me, they decided to pick it up again!
Once more they found themselves targeted by powerful foes, the Avestite order. It's not really by design, but they have become the recurring bogeymen of the game.
A duel turned into a firefight with snipers. One poor guy was hit with over 35 HP!
Now sirens can be heard in the distance.

Having played a couple of session of my 7th ed BRP hack of Fading Suns I note something interesting about the option to push your roll. Have you ever been in a situation where someone miss their roll and everyone else around the table ask if they can give it a go? I think this mechanic makes the risk/reward conversation more explicit.

I'm once more reading and browsing my Fading Suns collection. Will I bring it to the table this year? Still my lingering question for this game is, how do you compose a group of characters? Nobles with a retinue, yes. But, what else have *you* tried?
I'd love to hear experiences. Boosts welcome!

Alles in allen kamen die SC in einer ziemlich explosiven, politischen Lage an und haben versucht, so gut es geht unter dem Radar zu bleiben. (2/2) -

@AndreasDavour We started the game with them all at a wedding. Someone was assassinated and two years later (real-time) they were still together fighting Kurgans while protecting an Anunnaki ruin.
Troupe style is very doable, but you still need to figure out the common cause that galvanizes their actions and then determine the genres you're playing. Spy? Explore? Intrigue? Travelogue? War? Diplomacy?
#fadingsuns' scope is broad enough that a game doesn't need each faction.

I've been thinking on Fading Suns again.
How do you make a party in this game? The noble's entourage seem to be a common one, but if there are more than one player who want to play a noble?Would it be possible to play it troupe style, with everyone rolling up a noble, and then you get to play your noble in different adventures?
If you do that, how do you get people together when they might be spread all over multiple planets?
I have questions.

once again my character finds themselves in an unexpected romance arc at the conniving of another player/GM they weren't expecting or wanting (as a player I have been single for two decades and my sheer incompetence is a large part of this...)

@denis Ja, aber es gibt ja noch mehr Zeug für Mausritter zu kaufen. 😊
Außerdem ist es das erste RPG, das ich als Box gekauft habe, wenn ich mal die Karton-Ummantelung für das alte #FadingSuns Grundregelwerk außen vor lasse. 🙂
