#Europe has long been committing cultural suicide.
When #feudalism, #natioanalism & #imperialism were the default setting, all cultural development centered around the wants and needs of warlords, monarchs, aristocracy and the clergy.
But it was not enough to snuff out all colloquial culture.
Modern #capitalism however is what #facsists dreamt about, because it can effectively homogenize culture into pink slime by making people subjugate themselves.

I'm old enough to remember that the FCC's Fairness Doctrine was abolished by the GOP and President Reagan in 1987. The oligarchs have been playing the long game.

I've seen an argument that platforming all speech is warranted because "sunlight is the best disinfectant". Unfortunately, sunlight can also shine a light on paths that help bad actors find each other.
