I'm certain that #FaceBlindness is a big part of why I like dressing as creatures whether it's being #Xenomorph or wearing a silly Halloween mask.

In ordinary life, I look in at my face in a mirror and see a slab of flesh which looks like carefully arranged teratoma, with slight coincidental symmetry.

But with a mask on (even a silly grinning dogman), I feel aesthetic. And I love it.

The recognition of faces is processed by the right fusiform gyrus and caricatures by the left fusiform gyrus.
Sounds like I'm making it up but I'm not, although the evidence is rather flimsy (fMRI data). Also this was from a paper about a decade ago, which was the last time I searched for such stuff.
Might be time for me to fire up PubMed...

This is actually the second time I tested myself for #FaceBlindness - the first time was 11 years ago and I barely beat 50% last time. I managed 61% this time but I guessed so much I really wonder if I didn't get lucky a few times.

I think I did alright with the part of the test where they only presented me with one face to remember. It was the six faces later where I Just could not remember who I had seen. Anyone else test as poorly on this?
