#TSMC to install cutting-edge #3nm chip tools in #Arizona next summer
TSMC will begin installation of equipment into its #Fab21 phase 2 in Arizona in the third calendar quarter β from July to September β of #2026, with the aim to start production at the facility in calendar 2027, several quarters ahead of the original schedule of 2028, if the report from Nikkei is accurate.

#TSMC's #Arizona #Fab21 mass produces 4nm chips at a higher price than Taiwan
The company emphasized that it is producing chips on one of its #N4 process and yields in Arizona are comparable to those in Taiwan. However, chips fabbed in the #US are more expensive. But customers are willing to pay extra, says TSMC.
Unverified reports suggest Fab 21 producing at least three types of processors: the A16 Bionic chip, Apple's S9, and a CPU from AMD's Ryzen 9000 series.
