В этот раз разбираемся, как нагнетается тема кризиса карьерных треков и что нам всем с этим делать: кому придется переучиваться, что делать новичкам и стоит ли всем срочно записываться в электрики. ИИ пришел и срезал простые задачи. Именно с них раньше начинали разработчики, редакторы, переводчики, аналитики, тестировщики. Это и есть первый этаж профессии: скучный, недорогой, но крайне необходимый. Все мы через него проходили: учились, ошибались, набирались опыта и поднимались выше. Последнее время все чаще звучит призыв: времени на раскачку нет, уходите туда, где ИИ не достанет, — в электрики, сварщики, монтажники, сантехники. Звучит убедительно, особенно из уст западных технотопов на фоне грандиозных строек дата-центров. Но на деле все не так прямолинейно. Может, не стоит сломя голову записываться в автомеханики или уезжать в Латинскую Америку мастерить детскую мебель из дров? Лучше остановиться и попытаться понять, какие навыки рынку нужны на самом деле. Айтишникам стоит не убегать из профессии, а погружаться в нее глубже. Попробую обосновать — цифрами и фактами.

I'm torn. I have a super old Facebook account that many, many years ago I used to use but haven't used seriously in over a decade. I still keep it open, not to actually use, but to occasionally go in and post meaningless gibberish to fuck with their AI training. I try to post stuff thats hand written (by me) and kind of looks like English, but doesn't make any meaningful sense. I'm aware that it would still count as one of their monthly active users though.

Not sure whether closing it or continuing to post AI poison to it is the best anti-Facebook use of this account.

Привет, Хабр! Многие знают, что один из четырех всадников апокалипсиса типов собеседований в Бигтех – это так называемое "Behavioral interview". Этот тип собеседований вполне заслуженно считается самым недооцененным среди всех остальных. Казалось бы… Прийти и поговорить про опыт и поотвечать на всякие дурацкие вопросы непонятно зачем. Процесс собеседований в Бигтех разнится от компании к компании, но везде есть Behavioral. На это собеседование приходят интервьюеры, как правило выше чем тот, на который вы собеседуетесь.Очень часто это человек, который будет принимать решение, брать ли вас к себе в команду. Почему же это настолько важно, что 25% вашего успеха (возможно, даже больше) на финальном этапе зависит от прохождения этой части? На текущий момент у меня было 6 собеседований в Бигтех, и только один раз у меня получилось пройти эту часть. 5 раз я слышал что-то вроде "Не хватило конкретики, на ваш опыт мы ожидали большего".

I am not impressed with this modern generation of so-called AI, in general.

I am impressed when FAANGs can provide a CLI or API that lets you do a task in 1 LOC that truly only needs 1 LOC, if one understands software engineering and proper UI/UX design.

Something I do find interesting with the popular fediverse wish of ultimate AI bubble dotcom bubble style implosion (slight exageration to summarize):

The most common portfolios people are likely holding are unoptimized, usually single FTSE100/S&P500/MSCI World etc ETF portfolios (there might be some separate EM exposure, broad bond ETFs, some single-topic-funds etc., but in my experience people with those are already outliers).
In the case of the "glorious AI implosion" those would see more than signifcant losses for likely a very substantial amount of time, likely often unbuffered by dividend payments as these portfolios effectively have more than substantial exposure to the central actors of the AI bubble.

Given that a correction of that sector is indeed not unlikely to happen - what are the hedges and mitigations people have prepared for themselves for this risk scenario?
A faint hope for diversification and dollar-cost-averaging to fix it until retiring age?

Привет, Хабр! Сегодня я расскажу вам про мой путь от 0 до 500+ задач на Leetcode. Сначала, пару слов о себе: достаточно слабое образование, завалил кучу собеседований на алгоритмы (например, в Авито где-то в 2020 году), никогда не умел решать задачи, и не любил. Долгое время узнав о секции алгоритмов просто отказывался от собеседований. Сейчас не боюсь и могу. Даже в Бигтех эту секцию проходил несколько раз. Я делал всякий фронтенд, потом стал делать бекенд (на NodeJS), но алгоритмы никогда не получались. И вот, засучив рукава, я решил разделаться с этим безобразием раз и навсегда. I understand that using #Linux for #privacy is like the boy plugging the holes in the dike with his fingers. Everything I do online is monitored by one or more of the #faang no matter what I do (or I guess the acronym should be #manga now that Facebook is now Meta). It's just the principle of having to log into your own hardware like it was a website is so abhorrent to me. I should not have to beg #microsoft or anyone else for permission to use my own computer!

Now it's hard to ascribe individual blame to a lack of collective consciousness, but sometimes you do have to ever so gently head-butt someone (colloquially speaking) to get them to see their small part in the overall crime.

I was just reading a toot today about how horrible Amazon's hiring practices are.
Yet Amazon has no issues finding people willing to work for them.
