Education and "character development" as a political focus is a path into campus moralism and culture war. Concentrate instead on arguments about redistribution and collectivism with regard to health care, housing, and income security.

Wow, yes, a very thoughtful and on first reading compelling argument. Also, a (to me) new and deeper look at the Narcissus myth and its relevance. Bookmarked for repeat-reading!
Intensive use of AI tools changes the user and makes them speak _to_ and _for_ the AI, and that in turn changes the person's subtle pre-conscious germination of ideas and makes them lose creative spaces within themselves:
" ... deeper reliance on A.I. would desiccate those less legible aspects of myself, ...".

Sehr empfehlenswert, u.a. – aber bei weitem nicht nur– wegen Naomi Kleins Bemerkungen zu einer neuen Strategie für die Linke. Sie spricht von einer welcoming left, von neigbourism und eco populism.
Voran geht eine lange und differenzierte Analyse des Erfolgs des Trumpismus, für Ezra wie für Naomi Klein eine Form des Faschismus. Die Spiegelwelt, die Welt der Querdenker, mit der sich Naomi Klein schon lange beschäftigt, habe gesiegt. Sie bestimme die globale Realität, obwohl und vielleicht weil die „aufgeklärte Seite“ der Gesellschaft sie lange nicht ernst nahm – so wie wir hier die Spiegelwelt derjenigen, die von den Kickls, Kunaseks und Amesbauers vertreten werden, nicht ernst genug nehmen.

Der Lehrer & Theologe zerlegt mit biblischer Sprache den „Christlichen Nationalismus“ & #Rechtsdualismus der wankenden Republikaner längst weit über #Texas hinaus. Er verteidigt die Trennung von #Kirche und #Staat als „sacred / heilig“ & verweist auf die Bedeutung von Liebe & Tat bei #Jesus.

The network of the elite and how they assess, use and pay each other. The depth of corruption is frightening, and it is good to be given concepts to describe it.
This text would be a worthy addition to a working bookshelf as a slim paperback, sitting next to weightier volumes by Marcel Mauss or Claude Levy-Strauss.

Some enlightenment from the fabulous Ezra Klein. China perspective and accurate knowledge are way off base in the USA, and that needs to be noted. The Klein wonk is negligible and necessary to the storyline.
I’m old enough to remember when Nixon was praised for opening a few channels with China and the Cold War with them warmed up. We find it difficult to understand any collectivist government and all things Commie.
Dangerous ignorance.

Enjoying this rational conversation about current US affairs between Ezra Klein and Yuval Levin. White House is creating many stories, but not achieving much, bite sized governance by deal making that dominates the news cycle but is overall very ineffective, shortsighted breaking of internal and international ties that is already backfiring. Maybe I enjoyed it as a way of calming my sense of impending doom. Anyway, worth a listen.
