  1. This is the resulting #Court case - appears #driver did pull over 100m away and return to the scene of the #collision but its not clear when or how the authorities were able to identify him or whether he later handed himself in (he's not being separately charged with failing to stop, which would have happened if they had to look for him)

The #cyclist has recovered from his #injuries

Seems that #driver was also a bit of an #oldtimer and his health and #eyesight wasn't the best, he has since handed in his #DrivingLicence to DVLA.

His son and daughter own a #RollsRoyce dealership across the border in #Essex, which is likely how he acquired this unusual vehicle..

  2. I have two in person meetings on April 18th. But that's well before my sight will be good enough to drive my scooter or powerchair.
My home help just tried pushing me around the kitchen and thinks she may be able to push me from the nearest taxi drop off points. The longest route, yo the first event, is also uphill ...
I'm not so sure, but may decide to risk it.

    "
Tesla carelessly promotes ‘Full Self-Driving’ for driver losing his eyesight
    "
"The problem is that Tesla itself classifies FSD as a Level 2 driver-assist system that requires driver monitoring at all times — and the driver is responsible for the vehicle at all times. Those two things are fundamentally incompatible."

  4. New glasses. The BDV/prism part is the same, even though it's gotten a little worse in the last few years, the optomitrist said that since I'm already on a very high prism lens strength, going higher could become unconfortable for me.

Now though, I also have bifocals so that I can read better. And holy shit! Being able to read the small print on packaging again is a joy! I didn't even need to get my maginifying glass out!

Yay my dumb old eyes! This is gonna take some getting used to.

  5. Went to #opticians last week for eye test and checkup, was slightly cursing myself for driving short distance but it was cold and pissing down with rain. Had to fight cursed #UI of parking machine to get my pay and display ticket (took several tries, but I refuse to download yet another app)

Thankfully my distant #eyesight is no worse than 2 years ago (although my #presbyopia has increased slightly to +1,50) - managed to unearth a #vuln in an #OCT scanner as I am very nearsighted - the level of this overflowed the software, optician had to use a different one!

Was shown all the pictures of the inside of my eye/optic nerve etc, all was good there (considering my age and near sight)

Got some #ramen from one of the Asian shops but didn't hang around long in town due to #weather (brr!)

  6. Some thoughts about this implant:

    1. The input doesn't need to arrive from the sensor itself, but can be anything fed direct to the "output" side. It could be for example fully synthetic computer generated image.

    2. The problem with this current setup is that the field of view is very narrow. Normally the brain constructs the "larger" image by quickly performing eye micromovements and then stitching the image together to create a larger "virtual" field of vision. Implementing this would require precise sensor information about the position of the eyeball and then generating "correct" part of the simulated image.

    3. This implant will work eyelids closed, if you feed the stream bypassing the sensor side.

  7. Wow! My new glasses arrived within just eight days. That‘s great, I‘ve been witnessing a sharp decline in my ability to read stuff that is a little farther away than I can hold, let alone movie titles on our AppleTV, so it was time… #glasses #eyesight #age

  8. MakeUseOf: Your Eyes Will Thank You for Turning On These iPhone Features . “Your iPhone is indispensable, but extended screen time can take a toll on your eyes. Bright whites, sharp blues, and nonstop animations all contribute to eye strain over time. If cutting back on phone use isn’t possible, Apple offers features that can make the screen easier on your eyes.”

  11. So, last week I had my eye exam, and as expected, it was recommended that I should get either reading glasses or bifocals.

I opted for bifocals, and specifically for the "transitions" style, and they came in yesterday and I have to say... boy howdy I do not like them. I'm trying to get used to them... but it's a struggle, to be sure. I did not realize how much I used my peripheral vision until I got these new lenses.

  12. Doing some more research into #visualsnowsyndrome I came across a video that accurately shows it pretty well minus the night blindness.

This is how I see the world, anyone else?

It is so strange realizing new things with yourself in life. I seriously thought this was everyone.
