  1. Talking to a very extroverted good friend and describing to her the nervous feeling of joining a new group of people you don't know, at a place you've never been, doing an activity you've never done.

And she gave me the extrovert mindset - that she assumes she's the most interesting person in the room BECAUSE no one knows her.

    Damn that's magic. lol

  6. I swear Corporate team building exercises are cooked up by the extroverts in these environments, because they enjoy that shit and can't comprehend that its pure fucking torture for the introverts.

My people battery was fried from a morning fixing network and access issues before going to this shit

  11. Ogres, Onions, and Opposites: How Shrek Accidentally Became a Masterclass on Introverts and Extroverts Becoming Friends

There are movies that try very hard to teach lessons. They announce their morals loudly, underline them twice, and then pause to make sure you were paying attention. And then there are movies like Shrek, which stumbled into emotional intelligence like it tripped over a fairy tale trope and fell face-first into a surprisingly thoughtful exploration of personality differences. On the surface, Shrek is a crude, irreverent parody of Disney fairy tales, full of fart jokes, pop culture references, […]

  12. “An opera (OR A COMIC BOOK) begins long before the curtain goes up (OR THE FIRST PAGE) and ends long after it has come down. It starts in my imagination, it becomes my life, and it stays part of my life long after I’ve left the opera house (OR THE SPINNER RACK) .” ~ Maria Callas (AND SPEEDPASTEROBOT) #comix #extroverts #opera

  13. This is a question for people who are NOT neurotypical extroverts:

Do you believe that most NT extroverts lack empathy especially with regards to people who aren't NT or extroverts?

  14. I repeat my shower thought: politics sadly skews towards policies suiting #extroverts over #introverts because the former are, almost by definition, better at marketing and conniving and campaigning, and of course see things from their point of view.

  15. Question for the extroverts who are still masking:
What things are you doing to form bonds with people and connect while being safe? What is working for you?

I run games online and have met with friends at concerts where my wife and I are masked. It’s still hard. I’ve also tried outside group activities like run clubs, but then they want to go get pizza together and I don’t want to be eating inside. I’d love to meet people with similar attitudes about Covid. I tried CovidMeetup.com but I wasn’t making a lot of connections. I’d love to hear what you all do.

    Please boost if you can.

  16. A question for extroverts: What’s the longest you can be in silence when you’re around other people? How long can you go without talking?

  17. Imagine you've turned up to a party and it's full of #extroverts and they're having a great time. But everyone is kind of talking over the top of everyone else, and not really listening to each other.

#Introverts hate these kinds of parties. I've never felt more lonely than in a room full of people I can't talk to.

Many social media spaces feel like this for me. But even worse is when you know people in the room, and they still don't wanna say hello let alone listen to your thoughts.

  18. Happens quite a lot and the expectation that this can happen tends to deter me from asking in the first place (well done, #extroverts ...)

  19. So I went out tonight to #Derby #EMOM and my mental health is now stupidly good... like, I don't feel even a little bad. It's such a relief.

I need human company so much. It just recharges me like nothing else.

(I live on my own and work from home so my life is very solitary.)

Are there any other #hypersocial #extroverts on here?

  24. @wildarchaic Yep, I'm familiar with all of those authors/researchers, which probably isn't surprising given our discussion topic.🤣 Based on everything I've learned with regard to #neuroscience, I'd agree with Brian Little that #personality traits are dynamic. Of course, it's possible for #introverts to temporarily shift into #extroversion to accommodate #extroverts. There IS an energy cost to it, but it's possible. It's telling that extroverts rarely do as much work in the other direction.😂

  25. @dancinyogi Susan Cain (I believe drawing on the research literature, but it’s been years since I’ve read ‘Quiet’) calls those in the middle “ambiverts.”

(I also liked her book because it did a good job distinguishing introversion/extroversion from things like shyness or people skills. There are shy #extroverts, as well as #introverts like me—people whose people skills are fine, good enough to be a major professional asset, but who find deploying those skills quite draining.)

  26. well-meaning advice by #extroverts on how to master social situations: so helpful.

    NOT.

    *sigh*
