Here in the US we have a problem with distinguishing between freedom to think, speak and worship and freedumb to make a mess for everybody else.

It would have been better if the founders had exactly specified what they meant by freedom, which surely was not "you should be free to end your septic sewer at your property line" (if it were otherwise we'd be smart enough to ignore their advice, yes?).

The conditions required for the petroleum extraction wastewater blowout described and analyzed in this paper are replicated at vast scale, far beyond the Permian Basin.

Meanwhile only a tiny period of time has passed before inadequate long term durability is already becoming obviously visible. There's every reason to believe the problem will become worse.

An industry that treats our planet like toilet paper.

It would be interesting to see how these results might change if the inquiry also included elicitations on self-efficacy.

Capitalism cannot exist where there is #oligopoly/#monopoly. Economics 101.

Capitalism as defined by prominent thinkers also means govt protections from capital, to avoid and offset negative aspects, called #externalCosts or #externalities. That just hasn't been happening.

We've given multinational oligarchs power over effectively all aspects of life. Their fusing with govt, and cementing of power manifests more as fascism than #capitalism.

We have reached a good understanding, it seems.

Yes income tax and "profits" tax are replaceable by a 15% land tax based on rental value. Income tax only came around circa 1915 after the "#FederalReserve" (read: seedy private interest cartel) was created.

10% GST on things that are not fresh #food and necessities (see #Australia's #GST) is also good. Buying #processedFoods and #manufactured goods has #externalCosts best accounted for separately.
