Shout out to the developer at JCOGS. Design (https://jcogs.net) We use their JCOGS Image add-on in ExpressionEngine 7. They are dedicated to making sure their clients are happy, keeping their add-ons as close to perfect as can be, and being empathetic to their clients' concerns and needs.

The attached shows the long blue pause is the index.php file in an EE7 site. This 'pause' is sometimes over 15 seconds. This happens during page update/create, implying a MySQL issue. Server has loads of spare resources, no errors in MySQL/Apache/PHP. This is random, sometimes it update/create is instant, sometimes delayed.

In the past I would lean on NewRelic to profile these requests, but I am wondering if there is something better or newer?

@Chris @DavidDarnes We used to use Drupal years ago but #ExpressionEngine has everything we want and more and it’s easier to use to boot. The new 7.5 Code Generators will even make templating absolutely trivial.

Not saying Drupal is bad, but #eecms doesn’t get the respect and attention it’s due. Since v5 it’s been rebuilt from the ground up so it’s also really modern. Worth checking out..

Does anyone know if there is a Discord or Slack server for #expressionengine? I know there used to be one for Slack, but entering my username/email into the 5 year old blog post about this isn't producing any results.

One of the core parts of the websites I build for clients is the flexible template and simple page builder, so we can mix and match designed panels across the site. Looks like I can reproduce the Advanced Custom Fields setup for WordPress in Expression Engine without any add-ons!

WordPress continue to add features that I think are taking it in the wrong direction and (plugin) security patches seem weekly. I’m researching alternatives and want a lightweight & easy to install content management system that doesn’t need a build pipeline. Things turn full circle as I come back to Expression Engine that I used over ten years ago!

Following @valorin sort of, going to finally migrate away from #CraftCMS to #Statamic. My site has gone roughly from Wordpress to #ExpressionEngine to CraftCMS over the last 20 years or whatever. Since 90% of my work is Laravel, Statamic seems like a natural fit. Luckily I don’t have a lot of posts or custom stuff, but I am hoping to post more… please don’t hold your breath, I don’t want that on my conscience.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm serving clients well by pushing them from WordPress to ExpressionEngine. Then I look at sites I’ve been running for years and I can count on one finger the numbers of times I've had to respond to a critical security issue.

Once a quarter I update EE to the latest version; I don't think any of those updates has changed editorial workflows unexpectedly.

About once a year I make sure the whole environment is up to date.

The content could still use some updating, but after a few hours of work our site is running on a modern version of ExpressionEngine, having jumped from PHP 5 to PHP 8 and I still actually love it. @mikepick does good work.
