Tourette's syndrome is considered a neurological disorder caused by a dysfunction of the basal ganglia and a disturbed dopamine balance. But what if that's only half the story?

  13. "Sir, we have a problem."

    "What is it?"

"The cadets are too weak to go into combat."

"Hmm... we should toughen them up."

    "How?"

    "How about exposure therapy?"

    "Brilliant idea, sir!"

    [A little later.]

    "Bad news, sir."

    "What is it?"

    "The cadets were all wimps."

    "What happened?"

"We exposed them to grenades, and they all died."

"Alright. We'll have to do another recruitment call."

    "Alright, sir!"

"And this time, please use nuclear bombs for the exposure therapy."

    "Understood, sir!'

  18. Exposure Therapy. Who can tell me about it.

My 14-year old, recently diagnosed AuDHD, has intense anxiety about blood draws, which she needs every 6-12 months to continue with the medication regimen she desires.

I am only asking about Exposure Therapy. Please do not provide other reflections on blood draws, in general. I am setting out this boundary to help me manage my stress of parenting in this situation. If you answered the previous post on this topic with other responses, thank you, your heart is in the right place, but the other responses are not helpful for me.

  23. Did my #CPTSD exposure #therapy exercise. It consists of listening to my narration of one traumatic episode from my childhood. This triggers an ‘emotional flashback’. Gradually the intensity of these flashbacks reduces.

But because I had a break from it, the intensity is pretty high again.

So I cried. And I’m left feeling unsafe, untrusting and afraid (an emotional flashback).

Grounding myself now back in the present.

  27. Love this focus on #ExposureTherapy and how #CBTworks:

"After five minutes of intense stress, Audrey’s anxiety began to fade. By minute nine, she was bored. “I’m kind of just like, why am I sitting here?” she said, giggling"

EXCEPT that I'm having trouble with posting the silly stuff like I do on the bird app.

So here's a picture of the dinosaurs that come to life in my house for #dinovember , bringing imagination, chaos, and #ExposureTherapy vibes
