@transit I never truly understood why the TTC didn't co-opt the #Expo67 hovercraft for #TorontoIsland ferrying 😊

Good Morning #Canada
#HappyBirthday to Jean Drapeau, Mayor of Montreal 1954-57 and 1960-86. Born on this day in 1916, in Montreal, he passed away in 1999. His legacy includes delivering Canada's Centennial birthday party #Expo67 and the 1976 #SummerOlympics to the city. But his most famous quote haunted him for years...“The Games could no more run a deficit than a man could have a baby."

@gdinwiddie @canadaehx we had physical Expo67 "passports" and mine is full of stamps. It shaped my worldview so much.
I was so privileged and lucky to experience food and culture and history from all over, all summer, near my home!
The chinese emperor's terracotta army, a real Soyuz capsule, weisswurst :-\ , carribean pan musicians, a huge Alexander Calder sculpture ... so many textiles & smells (mmm, real belgian waffles) & artifacts & stories! #Expo67
(Total opposite of book banning 😭 )

Expo 67 Canadian Pulp and Paper Pavilion is this week's #tbt.
"The Canadian Pulp & Paper industry's pavilion was a stylized forest in which the tallest trees were as high as an eight story building. Paper, for which the forests produce the raw material, is the principal tool Man uses to record his thoughts and his actions." Copyright © Jeffrey Stanton
