Came across this wonderful image from Arctic photographer, Martin Hartley, which shows me skiing up from base camp on Klyutchevskoy Sopka. The mountain had started erupting before we arrived and the volcanic ash on the snow gave the terrain an almost lunar look.

Just returned from the field. This month, we ventured to Yema Haizi (野马海子), a breathtaking seasonally frozen lake perched at ～4,100m in Kangding, Sichuan (Ganzi, eastern Tibetan Plateau). We spent an unforgettable day recording the raw beauty of this remote landscape.
The biggest challenge was still altitude sickness, and we're really glad we made it through.
