FULL-HOUSE #EXORCISM
Sunday cleaning is underway.
I have done the bathrooms and the kitchen, which means I have faced the main #demons directly.
Soap #scum
#Kitchen crumbs.
#Coffee rings.
The mysterious sticky patch that no one admits creating.
Now Pete is doing the floors.
First the #vacuum.
Then the #steamer.
The steamer hisses like a serpent, so now it sounds as though Pete is chasing #Satan down the hallway with a #domestic appliance.
I am sitting here with coffee, looking #innocent, while the house undergoes #spiritual pressure-washing.
By the end of this, the #floorboards will have confessed, the grout will be forgiven, and whatever was living behind the #toaster will have packed a small bag and left quietly.
Not bad for a #Sunday morning.

1. This kind of fixation predictably emerges when cultural shifts are underway, and entrenched power structures feel threatened.
2. Men in many cultures feel threatened, feel that their long-taken-for-granted privilege and entitlement based solely on being penis-endowed is under assault.
