  1. @jalefkowit When I was a practicing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I drank herbal tea but didn't eat red meat. I was a weirdo. i actually took the whole thing very seriously. It's difficult to find a LDS member who doesn't eat meat. #exmo #exLDS

  2. @jalefkowit As a former Mormon I'd like to point out that the "word of wisdom" also specifically says that beer is ok, wine is too (as long as you make it yourself), cannabis is probably ok, & meat should only be consumed during winter, or times of famine. Funny, the things that the faithful LDS decide actually matter. #exmo #exevangelical #exLDS

  3. The 1832 account is the earliest known version, written in Joseph Smith’s own handwriting 12 years after the event and there is no other contemporary record from anyone. It was written in a letterbook but never publicly known until the 1960s. This version was removed from the letterbook and hidden in a safe when Joseph Fielding Smith first found it because it was so strange.

Hinckley says he's not worried that Joseph Smith's multiple versions of his First Vision. He dismisses these different versions of the vision without ever mentioning any differences in the accounts. His goal is calming members who have heard of these strange accounts, and hope they will not look at them.

  11. wasmormon.org/joseph-smith-was The church denied the strange magic practices of Joseph's Smith. Facts they now claim were commonplace. The church apologists yearn to dismiss the practices as astrology or gambling today, but does that make them better? They denied Joseph was involved and that he used his seer stone for treasure digging out translation.

  15. As a former Mormon, I endorse this message. I don't have tiktok, so I have very little exposure to "tradwife" content & was unaware that it has become so popular. I find the glamorization/monetization of being uneducated & unskilled in labor outside of childcare & housekeeping absolutely horrifying. #exmo #exLDS #exEvangelical #tradWife #patriarchy #abuseCulture youtu.be/JXRhm6te-Fg?si=aZo9B1

  20. After being ghosted by the Holy Ghost, Jana found the strength to detach herself from the confines of Mormonism, choosing instead to create a life where she could be true to herself and find genuine happiness.

  24. Sorry if this is a repeat. @corbden Hi, I was reviewing the #exmo hashtag here on mastodon and wanted to say that I appreciate you! I was worried when I left Twitter because I had finally cultivated a tiny ex-mormon community there. But I was glad to find you here, and I'm glad that you are still contributing so prevalently. Thanks for all that you do!

  25. @pbump LGBTQ+ Intolerance AND the LDS church's support for proposition 8 in California in 2008 is when I officially left the church. Fuck Intolerance when they could easily "receive new revelation" and be accepting. I'm glad i left, what I found out later, is a cult #exMormon #exLDS #exMo

  26. @karlauerbach As a former member of the "Church" of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints, which operates more like a corporation & hoards an ENORMOUS amount of money & property, I formally endorse the taxing of churches!

  27. @corbden @deirdresm This completely blew my mind because of the LDS church's historical shunning of the cross symbol but apparently they've changed their icon in Google maps to a cross to mark church locations! This just happened a few months ago, I think. #exmo #exlds youtu.be/-nzQ60C7njY?si=TSP-Ad
