Tim Burton – „Big Fish“ (2003)

„Big Fish“ ist wohl Burtons seltsamster Film – und das sage ich, obwohl er zuvor schon einen Superhelden in Latex, eine untote Braut und einen Mann mit Scherenhänden auf die Leinwand brachte. Seltsam nicht, weil er grotesk war, sondern weil er auf einmal schön sein wollte. Burtons Kino war bis dahin ein Ort für Außenseiter:innen: düster, verspielt, melancholisch. Dieser Film dagegen wirkt fast sonnig. Und genau das hat viele irritiert, die ihn damals im Kino sahen – mich eingeschlossen. (ZDF)
