CW: Covid, sarcasm, academia
As I've finished writing my MSc thesis, I was thinking to include in my acknowledgements section something like "I thank everyone who wore masks and stayed home to prevent the spread." However, I noticed there's no appropriate way for this, without becoming sarcastic or political. So here's the uncensored version:
Firstly, I want to thank my parents who morally and financially supported me in these complicated times. I am also in dept of my supervisor, who provided me with much inspiration. Without them, this thesis would not have been possible.
Secondly, I want to thank the government who did almost nothing to prevent the spread of #Covid19, while investing in #fossil energy. I sincerely want to thank all #landlord:s who #evict:ed people in the mid of a #pandemic and at freezing temperatures. I want to thank the #police for preventing peaceful demonstrations and destroying forest camps. Last but not least, I want to thank all the #billionaires who got even #rich:er and helped the poor getting poorer. Without them, the crisis would have been much easier for everyone 😈
