I know a lot of people that think it should not matter what the US does within its borders but I learned some interesting and cool fun facts today ( and also before this ) about street names. I was speaking to a Serbian cook today and learned a great deal of cool information.

In Kosovo a great deal of streets are named after Bill Clinton as he was the president during the breakup of Yugoslavia and if NATO had not intervened Serbia would have enslaved / made second class citizens of every other ethno group in the region. They appreciate Clinton for saving them from Serbia so they named streets after him.

In Serbia a great deal of streets are named after Woodrow Wilson. WW1 was started by a Serbian Nationalist/Activist shooting the Duke of Austria as the Austrians wanted to enslave the Serbians. The Serbians had no interest so a serbian man with a death sentence of Tuberculosis shot Duke Ferdinand. Woodrow Wislon and the USA fought against Austria/Hungary/Germany/Ottomans etc etc in WW1.

A great deal of streets in both Serbia and Germany are named after JFK. He was a very influential president abroad.

Powerful nations leave legacies. What countries do or how they behave will always transcend borders. Why should we care how the US acts against Greenland or how Nationalistic USians are? Because it literally impacts the rest of the world in such profoundly interesting ways, that we don't even think about.

The reason the US has Delikatessens and Bagels and Germany really doesn't is because German Jews fled to our country and brought their food with them. Germans love Döner and have it because of the Turkish that came to their country to rebuild after they lost WW2. The impact of world politics is profound on every level. You should not be fooled into thinking the USA only matters within it's borders because the news tries to treat you as the center of everything.

What every country does internally is absolutely important externally. Don't kid yourself into thinking anything else.

  13. Now I'm just rambling #everythingisconnected (to #PalladiumBooks, apparently), so I'll stop.

Gary Reed, by the way, eventually closed or sold all of his stores. The Dearborn store became Green Brain Comics, which is still the best #comicbook shop in Wayne County. I'm getting old, but life goes on.

At the time of DiXiT the IDE has also contributed to DiXiT Schools. Two of the fellows have become IDE members.
