I hate the trend of startups that are trying to do everything, because it's not possible. It will fail.
Why concentrate on everything and do a shitty job when you can do one thing and make it perfect? "One app for everything" is a doomed idea.

Theory about #X / #Twitter: first Musk instantly realized he overpaid, then it became quickly clear that it wasn't going to be an #everythingapp like WeChat because of old code and regulations.
But then a third business model occurred: vandalism of a public space - just in time for the #2024election in the US. My guess is that a group of secret shareholders (https://www.techdirt.com/2023/06/12/twitter-reveals-that-x-holdings-corp-has-95-shareholders-that-it-would-like-to-keep-secret/) told Musk that they would make it worth his while if he could sabotage public progressive discourse by destroying the original Twitter ecosystem - it just cannot be too obvious.
The fanboys and the media have to be fed a constant stream of "big plans" and "visions" for the platform (#grok, #streaming) while turning its core into #4chan. Even if an alternative is available, the network effect necessary for journalism, political discourse & organizing, will take years to occur.
The best thing about it: Musk doesn't even have to fully aware of it.
This is a big win for the far right.
