Gorgeous day in Kyoto. Warm, but not hot. No humidity. Still over 30 (and I am worried about the autumn leaves) but all in all I love this weather.

All the lanterns are up for the Mantōe, Night of 10,000 Lanterns. But with the typhoon on the way we decided to make the Obon trip to the cemetery in the morning. It was 🥵! They covered lots of the big lower paper lanterns, but I imagine the square ones up top will be drenched tonight and tomorrow.

The 提灯 chōchin place near my house is pretty famous and gets asked to do all the important jobs. (They made that famous one in Tokyo!) Production is now in full swing for mantōe which is always spectacular. See last year’s here: https://flickr.com/photos/37392994@N08/sets/72177720301466384

Love this rooftop farm on a building in downtown Kyoto. We are in the in-between season and they have tilled and are getting ready for the Winter to Summer shift. This farm is a few floors up. There is a restaurant that overlooks the farm, and in the first and second floors is a nice supermarket. Check it out: https://kyotoyaoichihonkan.com
