I've used #pretix for a few events, and although I really like how feature-rich it is, the UX (both on the backend and public-facing pages) could use some serious design reworking. It was one of the few #FOSS alternatives out there to #Eventbrite and such, so I stuck by it.

Today, though, I discovered another open-source #event platform called Hi.Events thanks to @alternativeto and it ticks a lot of my event platform boxes. Has anyone else tried #HiEvents?

There is this plugin for WordPress that sucks in events from Eventbrite. OMFG it has so many bugs with it, but the problem is that there aren't a lot of options out there.

What are good @eventbrite alternatives in EU. I've been trying to play with #fienta and sorry, maybe have better support for payments, but options for tickets are not there compare to #eventbrite.

I wonder what private equity has in store? They also own Brightcove, which is basically the building block of every #Roku channel.

Bending Spoons purchased #AOL in October for $1.5 billion and #Vimeo in September for $1.38 billion. Right now, the same group is closing on #Eventbrite, the live events marketplace and website. That service allows users to browse, create, and promote local events. Last year, Meetup.

Before those purchases, they bought several companies that had to do with time tracking, invoicing, expense tracking, time-based reporting, etc.

How does #EventBrite even let this happen?

Looking for not-enshittified alternatives to #Eventbrite and #Humanitix for small, sliding scale, online and in-person workshops. So far have discovered:

- #Mobilizon allows #federation but need an instance I feel fit with and not up for self-hosting
- #Luma looks pretty but prefer #OpenSource
- #Pretix which seems to check a lot of boxes so will trial

I'm so glad I don't have to run an event tonight that's using Eventbrite (which must be using AWS).

Anyone who was relying on them for ticket processing tonight would be majorly screwed. Parts of or most of their services have been down for at least half the day.

Even though I don't have an event tonight, I was counting on it being a good day for ticket sales for an upcoming event. Instead we sold maybe only half of what I expected.

This kind of thing is going to happen more and more in the world that we live in. I need to have contingency plans to limit the harm that could be caused by something like #AWS going down and demolishing a tech stack that was overly reliant on it.

Also WTF Eventbrite? You only publish updates on X? I’m planning on dumping these guys next year and I look forward to it.

J'ai juste un message "Error fetching your profiles and groups for Mobilizon account" #mobilizon des retours?

Apologies to all if these options are there and that I've missed them, but the fact I've missed them suggests they are not obvious or user-friendly.
