Taking to the road next week to cycle #Eurovelo 1 from #Belfast to #Sligo. As well as the route shown if the weather behaves a little I’m going to add loops of the Sperrins, Inishowen & Boa island (I want to see the ‘Janus’ statues. if it’s glorious I might even head back to a couple of favourite wild camping spots

I intend to finish the two other ‘missing’ sections of #EV1 in Ireland over the summer so that in the winter I can create a full set of videos of every part

I saw a handful of videos online about this particular ev1. When they crushed the majority of them (they were originally only leased, never sold), they gave away a few to museums, and they gave away a few to universities with a stipulation that they never sell them. It sounds like a university stopped knowing that they owned it, had it towed, and the towing company went through the process
of legally selling it at auction. GM didn't care enough to claim ownership.

Electrek Garage has an EV1 they are restoring. University reported to be towed. Tow company got court order saying they could sell it. Tada! Only known privately owned EV1.

At this time most #EV enthusiasts were talking about how the GM #EV1 was awesome and trying to recreate it or get their hands on one. The Tesla roadster when it came out was a modified Lotus Elise and shorter than a ford focus and a bit wider (73.7").

I wanted to see more sedan sized EVs but unfortunately that was not to be. I wanted to be a fan of Tesla but that also was not to be.
