At last!

Last stretch: Milano - Sanremo (not the cycling race)

I had to change itinerary. Instead of going straight to Genova Piazza Principe, I am first going to Milano Centrale with Frecciarossa 9512, then to Genova with InterCity 637.

We are used to insult Trenitalia because of its chaos, but I must say that the service was impeccable this time. Exactly like me, another person missed the conmection, and we were given a special (hamdwritten LoL) ticket telling us we could go to Milan then Genova, even if our route was supposed to go straight to Genova from Firenze.

Finally, a Trenitalia steward literally escorted us to the train to Milan, and coordinated with the train manager to find a seat for us.

All of this happened in 8 minutes.

I didn’t make it 🤬

I missed the Frecciargento to Genova even if it was 24 minutes late, because the Nightjet’s delay rose to 97 minutes.

I quickly took a Regionale to Santa Maria Novella, where there are more options of trains leaving. Now waiting for the infodesk to find an alternative travel solution for me.

🚄 Berlin to Sanremo

This thread documents my journey home from #DWebCamp, exclusively via railway, expected to last 25 hours.

More specifically: yesterday I travelled back to Berlin from Alte Hölle, Wiesenburg (Mark) station; today from Warschauer Straße to Berlin Hauptbanhof, then to München Hauptbanhof, then overnight to Firenze Campo di Marte, then tomorrow to Genova Piazza Principe, and finally to Taggia Arma.
