The Commission has stated that an @eu executive "will determine upcoming funding decisions for UNRWA in light of the very serious allegations made on 24 January relating to the involvement of UNRWA staff in the heinous 7 October attacks".
No additional funding to #UNRWA "is foreseen until the end of February".
But it added that humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza and in the West Bank "will continue unabated through partner organisations".

"Le contrôle des financements auxquels ont accès les Palestiniens constitue un enjeu majeur depuis l’époque du mandat britannique sur la Palestine. Les organisations sionistes jouissaient alors de l’importante manne financière pourvue par les diasporas juives d’Europe et des États-Unis, tandis que les forces coloniales françaises et britanniques réprimaient les levées de fonds qui s’organisaient en soutien à l’insurrection palestinienne dans les régions arabes voisines sous leur contrôle. En parallèle, l’administration mandataire entreprenait d’aider — sans grande efficacité — les paysans palestiniens repoussés par la colonisation comme un moyen de tarir les foyers de révolte qui se multipliaient.
Après la Nakba en 1948, l’Office de secours et de travaux des Nations unies pour les réfugiés de Palestine dans le Proche-Orient (UNRWA) devient le principal pourvoyeur de l’aide humanitaire dispensée aux réfugiés palestiniens, installés dans des camps dans l’attente de leur « rapatriement »."
