  1. Global Progressive Mobilisation in Barcelona.

Sánchez seeks to rally global left against rise of far right Politico Europe.

(This has not been widely, if at all, reported in the UK, including on the left.)

Barcelona summit of left-wing leaders aims to counter the advances of populist and nationalist movements.

“More than 3,000 participants from over 100 organizations are convening in Barcelona for the launch of the “Global Progressive Mobilization,” a new initiative aimed at strengthening international cooperation among left-leaning parties and activists.

The experiment is about organizing internationally, Stefan Löfven, president of the European Socialist Party (PES), told POLITICO. “Democracy is increasingly under pressure, and progressives are stepping up globally.”

“As the world faces critical turmoil, the Global Progressive Mobilisation (GPM) offers a necessary alternative to conservative and far-right forces. This platform aims to make progressive solutions visible and credible, proving they are the key to humanity’s prosperity. By uniting regions and generations, we will defend democracy and advance social justice. That is why we will come together in Barcelona, Spain, on 17–18 April 2026 for the inaugural Global Progressive Mobilisation — to turn conviction into action and ambition into results.”
