Video filmed in almost exactly 12 years ago, on 9 December 2013 - hundreds of thousands of people gathered in #Kyiv on #Euromaidan to protest against arbitrary decision by #Yanukovych to cancel the process of signing the EU Association Agreement, which he promised for the whole year, only to backtrack after a covert meeting with #Putin. In total, over a million of people protested over three winter months in the whole country.

Back then Ukrainians faced two choices: keep quiet and continue living under corrupt government, with stagnating economy and lawlessness ruling their daily lives just like Russians do, or take up the fight.

I think the video is also the best illustration to how nonsensical all these theories about “CIA coup” invented by Russians are - you can’t keep a million of people (out of 30m country) protesting for three months in harsh Eastern European winter on salary. They were really desperate and motivated to fight for their freedom.

For comparison, in 2012 when #Putin decided he’s going for his third presidential term in violation of the Constitution, around 160’000 Russians protested across the 130m country… for three days. Respect to those who did, disgrace to the 99.9% who didn’t.

Ayer, 1 de diciembre, el todavía presidente Joe Biden anunció que ha firmado un indulto total e incondicional para su hijo, Hunter Biden, por delitos relacionados con impuestos federales y armas, por los que debía ser sentenciado este mes. El indulto cubre los delitos que «ha cometido o puede haber cometido o en los que ha participado» entre el 1 de enero de 2014 y el 1 de diciembre de 2024. Al extender el beneficio presidencial a su hijo durante casi 11 años le permite exonerarse de cuantas irregularidades o delitos pueda haber cometido mientras Hunter era consejero de la primera compañía ucraniana de gas natural, Burisma Holdings, donde entró precisamente en el año 2014. Y con este indulto, que Biden aseguró durante la pasada campaña electoral que no otorgaría, el presidente norteamericano se implica directamente en la trayectoria empresarial y de reconocidos delitos fiscales de su hijo.

Los republicanos, con Donald Trump a la cabeza, han acusado con frecuencia a Biden de beneficiarse personalmente e influir en los negocios extranjeros de su hijo en Ucrania y China mientras era vicepresidente con Barack Obama. En el caso de Burisma, Hunter ingresó como consejero en abril de 2014, poco después de que su padre, entonces vicepresidente de EEUU, ofreciera ayuda a Ucrania para incrementar su producción de gas. El fundador de Burisma, Mykola Zlochevsky, había sido ministro de ecología de Ucrania con Viktor Yanukovych, ex presidente de Ucrania cercano a Rusia que había sido expulsado el 22 de febrero de 2014 después de las protestas masivas y sangrientas conocidas como el Euromaidán, que marcó el origen de la actual guerra entre Rusia y Ucrania.

Hunter Biden, que permaneció en Burisma hasta 2019, se vió afectado por dos polémicas en las cuales siempre defendió su inocencia. Una tuvo como protagonista al principal fiscal ucraniano, Viktor Shokin, por liderar una investigación sobre el propietario de Burisma, Mykola Zlochevsky. Estados Unidos y otros gobiernos occidentales ya tenían a Shokin en el punto de mira por considerar que era un fiscal demasiado blando con la corrupción. En este contexto, en marzo de 2016 el vicepresidente Joe Biden presionó al gobierno ucraniano para que destituyera a Viktor Shokin.

Asimismo, en el verano de 2019 un militar denunció que el entonces presidente Donald Trump había presionado a su homólogo ucraniano, Volodímir Zelenski, para que colaborara en su intento de probar que Joe Biden había intentado, como vicepresidente, que se apartara de su cargo a un fiscal que investigaba supuestas irregularidades cometidas por su hijo en Ucrania. El asunto acabó provocando el primer impeachment (juicio político) contra Trump por haberse valido de su cargo de presidente para dañar a un rival político, aunque finalmente el Senado, de mayoría republicana, lo exoneró.

La segunda polémica en la que se han visto implicados Hunter Biden y Burisma la destapó el pasado verano el New York Times. Según documentos del Departamento de Estado de EEUU, el hijo del presidente Biden escribió en 2016 al entonces embajador de Estados Unidos en Roma, John Phillips, solicitando ayuda en nombre de la empresa Burisma para ayudar a asegurar una reunión con el jefe del gobierno regional de Toscana a fin de promover un proyecto de energía geotérmica para el que Burisma necesitaba la aprobación regulatoria en esa región italiana. Sin embargo, la solicitud no fructificó, no hay evidencia de que se celebrara reunión alguna al respecto y Enrico Rossi, presidente del gobierno regional de Toscana en ese momento, dijo al New York Times que nunca conoció a Hunter Biden y que no recordaba que la embajada de Estados Unidos se pusiera en contacto con él sobre el proyecto Burisma. Un portavoz de la Casa Blanca dijo que Joe Biden no estaba al tanto de la carta de su hijo al embajador en ese momento.

Tras el indulto de Biden a su propio hijo abarcando tan extenso periodo de tiempo, que coincide en parte con su ejercicio como vicepresidente y presidente de Estados Unidos, la pregunta es: ¿de qué posibles delitos ha querido blindar Joe Biden a su hijo Hunter?, ¿qué teme la familia Biden de la última década? Porque Trump prometió en campaña investigar a fondo la trayectoria de los Biden cuando acceda de nuevo a la presidencia estadounidense, en enero de 2025.

An interesting detail: Gunther #Fehlinger, in addition to being the president of a high-level European committee within NATO, is also one of the political mentors advocating for the #Euromaidan movement that took place in #Ukraine in 2014.

In one of his articles, he advocates for a mobilization of the color revolution in Ukraine against Russian interests:

"The Euromaidan, or Revolution of Dignity, showed a clear desire expressed by Ukrainians to be part of the common European family.
