Falei de #eurobeat ontem e devo dizer que estou pesquisando há bastante tempo como é que as músicas não "vazaram" e chegaram de volta ao Ocidente, principalmente numa espécie de revival com saudosismo projetado, como aconteceu com o #citypop.
Não entra na minha cabeça uma dúzia de italianos com vários pseudônimos produzindo em inglês para o Japão, sem que isso acabasse gerando algum burburinho.
Eu não consegui mapear se envolveu estigma, agressividade no copyright ou pura incapacidade de absorção (por exemplo, alguém tentar burlar e trazer discos, mas não conseguir dar capilaridade, ainda que fazendo sampling).
O máximo que chegou com força foram alguns memes, principalmente em torno de um certo anime (Initial D). Fora isso, o impacto parece ter sido baixo. Tanto que eu percebo o impacto dos memes e do anime no cult following, o que acaba contaminando reviews, fóruns e sites.
Eu acho que tem material genuinamente bom e esquecido.
Uma das principais figuras da cena, que cantou muito e tem um selo, Clara Moroni, tem estado bem ativa no Instagram. Ironicamente, ela não parece tentar atingir tanto o público japonês (nem mesmo com traduções), e se comunica em inglês e italiano.
Ouvir #eurobeat dá muito trabalho: o catálogo é muito grande, parte dele não pode ser levada a sério e as disputas envolvendo os selos bagunçam a oferta em serviços de streaming como o #YouTube Music. Para conseguir montar as playlists, eu preciso apelar para sites especializados, como wikis.
Todo esse esforço também é atravessado por opiniões que podem ter sido moldadas por aspectos culturais com os quais não tive contato nas décadas de 1990 e de 2000. Consequentemente, apesar de o meu contato com o gênero ter começado lá por 2009, eu simplesmente prefiro as faixas mais velhas, mais lentas e com uma paleta que soa rica para mim.
Claramente, minha preferência é a minoritária, e editores de sites especializados, como o Eurobeat-Prime, tratam os volumes iniciais da coletânea Super Eurobeat como sendo os piores. Eu discordo e diria que é o contrário: quanto mais novo o disco, pior fica e mais reciclagem é necessária para pegar faixas do passado e fazer volume.
Se é para ouvir uma faixa de 1990 acelerada e cortada num disco que saiu 20 anos depois, eu prefiro ficar com a original. Percebi isso ouvindo os megamixes: acabava gostando mais das velharias e pegando discos jurássicos.
