🇪🇸 Spain's Montse Tomé will step down, with Under-23 coach Sonia Bermudez named as her successor.
Tomé replaced Jorge Vilda in 2023, after he was sacked in the wake of the "kiss scandal" at the 2023 Women's World Cup involving then-federation president Luis Rubiales.
Under Tomé, Spain won the Nations League and, despite the recent #Euro2025 defeat, remains the top-ranked women's team in the world.

In the (long) queue for the ladies loo at the Lionesses HQ fan zone word went round that there was no loo roll left.
Next thing I know, a single loo roll is being passed back along the line, with each person taking some and passing it on. Everyone saying they didn’t want to take more than their fair share.
Possibly the most English thing to happen in the entire tournament 🏴.

The two PK saves (plus a PK miss) were loud & shiny, but Hampton was quietly heroic throughout the tournament. In the final, she prevented 1.35 goals, allowing 1 goal on 2.35 xG.
In the knockout rounds:
0.73 goals prevented against Italy
1.33 goals prevented against SwedenYou can make a case for Kelly or Agyemang as player of the tournament, but for me… Hampton.
And to be candid, I doubted throughout. I thought she spills too many rebounds. 🤷♂️

Smash and grab job for England. If these teams played 5 games, Spain wins 4 of them. They are a far more talented side, but despite having a million Barcelona teammates, somehow don’t find the same strength in team.
It’s why I don’t bet on sports… this looked like an easy pick.

To be honest, I think Agyemang is called fairly often for the invisible foul of "being bigger than the other player". Most of her calls seem to come on challenges she makes on much smaller players, and when they inevitably come off worse against her big physical presence, assistant refs love a chance to wave their flag in the air.
I think it happens because a height mismatch like this means that a shoulder charge is nearly impossible for the bigger player to pull off properly, because she'd have to bend over to get shoulders lined up. So it inevitably ends up looking like she's bundled the smaller player over, when really it was simply that she was bigger and stronger. 🤷♀️

Spain open the scoring in the 25th minute, Mariona putting the ball in with a thumping header. Honestly, not impressed with Hampton on that one - she didn't even really move. I really think she's been a let-down for England in this tournament. Not that she's played badly, but she's no Mary Earps. And Lucy Bronze yet again showing poorly at her defensive duties.
But sheer quality from Spain on that one. Just excellent pass-and-move football.

I came into the #ENGITA game pretty neutral, and came out disappointed in the result. Italy played with so much heart and England...didn't. England might also just be tired because Sarina Weigman refuses to rotate even though some of her best players are on the bench.
Still, bummer of an ending with the ref, who swallowed her whistle all game, handing England the game via a very soft penalty call.
I'm happy for Esme Morgan and Esme Morgan only. (Okay and Michelle Agyemang.)

What should worry England is that, while "better"*** for most of the game, their starters cannot score. Their subs, Kelly and Agyemang carried them. Again.
And with another PK opportunity (on a sooooooofffftttt foul), they failed to convert again, initially anyway.
I assume they'll meet Spain in the final and that could be rough if they don't get right in a hurry.
*** "better" is tough to gauge when one team scores and bunkers, but...
