Es gibt auch gute Nachrichten: nach einigen Schwierigkeiten mit der EU wird Deutschland nun doch CO2-Zertifikate im Umfang von ~500.000 Tonnen löschen.
Damit wäre dann die Schließung zweier Braunkohlekraftwerke im Rheinland 2022 zumindest teilweise auch im EU-ETS1 reflektiert. Und nur das zählt, nicht die Anzahl von Kraftwerken.

Entscheidend für den Klimaschutz ist nicht die Menge an Kohle- und Gaskraftwerken. Sondern die Menge des dort verbrannten Brennstoffs. Zwanzig Gaskraftwerke, die nur wenige Stunden im Jahr laufen, sind besser als ein Gaskraftwerk, dass ständig bei 100% läuft.
Auch das Abschalten von Kraftwerken nützt erst mal gar nichts, wenn nicht auch die CO2-Emissionsrechte gelöscht werden. Das hat zuletzt nicht geklappt!
