This component of my #cyberpunk jacket project that I call the "codex" was designed to be usable separate from the rest of the tech built in to the jacket. I was able to get it to read data from my #EUC so it can show ride stats, charge, and current speed.

This was my first test ride with the codex by itself. The display is hard to see in the picture because it's a very sunny day. I'll try again next time it's overcast.

The texture of the case comes from 3d printing in a dark color and then spraying with a single coat of plasti-dip.

Had the longest #EUC ride yet this weekend - 15 miles! Rode out to Lullwater park and back. It wore me out. I took a brief reprieve at this nice little park before finishing the journey.

Here's a quick example of riding the #EUC. Thought I'd share since some people were curious.

I've made quite a few posts with the tag #EUC but didn't explain what it means. It's "electric unicycle" and this is a picture of mine. This is the Nosfet Aero, and I think I lucked into a great model for mostly urban riding.

Did any of you read the Vellum and Ink books? By Hal Duncan. One of the characters gets lost in a seemingly endless world where he travels for days through various landscapes without change. Riding the #EUC around Atlanta feels like that. Endless roads and paths, endless trees. It's very different experience from being in a car and ending on up five-lane roads or highways.

From yesterday's #EUC ride up #Path400. The wisteria is going wild.

11 mile ride on the #EUC today! Made it all the way to Piedmont Park where I saw these Mystery Stairs again. Decided to go up them to look around a little before riding on. I found parts of the park I've never seen before on foot.

Been enjoying this track (and album) lately.

Today's #EUC ride was 8.3 miles - that's the most distance I've done on it yet. I got from the southern end of #Path400 to the half-way point at Lenox Road. My riding partner had to turn back so I didn't get to see the next leg.

On the way back we caught a new mural being painted on Sidney Marcus. And then detoured behind the "Uptown" complex and spotted this odd trailhead. I can't imagine where it goes, so that'll be an investigation for another day.

Riding the #EUC every day I can, report eleventy. Snapped this in passing. It's not the only TUNA tag in the area. But I like how this one stands atop the attempt to paint over all the previous tags.

6.5 miles on the #EUC today! Made it to the pedestrian bridge over 400 next to Lenox Square. I'm completely addicted to this and glad that Atlanta has a fair number of good paths.

Since the winter storm came in later than expected, I took the chance to try the #EUC on the #Beltline. I thought it would be a short trip, but ended up going from Ansley to Piedmont Park and on to Ponce City Market.

Got to see a bunch of great murals and graffiti! I was surprised to see so many people out in the park and on the beltline for such a cool and damp day.

I was practicing on the wheel yesterday and got a pedestrian level view of something not visible when driving by. It's another Clops!

Sadly I noticed at almost all the other graffiti I was used to seeing on this route had been painted over.

I might have hit a new milestone on the #EUC today. Toward the end of today's practice loop it suddenly felt almost like I was standing on solid ground. Some kind of magic solid ground that moved me forward. It required so much less concentration than whatever I was doing before.

Now I have to get better at mounting. I usually need two to five tries to get moving at first.

I made the first full loop around my block on the #EUC. That's only about half a mile, but I'm pretty happy about it! The hardest part right now is going downhill.

Have you ever been possessed by the idea to learn something new, stupid, and potentially dangerous? But you don't know why you're possessed by this? And you then actually do it?

That's how I ended up with this electric unicycle. After a few days of practice I was able to ride this the length of my street. Once I build up enough skill this will be a fantastic way to get around.

Also: f***ing morons. I’ve been doing grassroots free software advocacy for two decades and even ran one campaign in #Israel*. Everything the #FSF said in the 2000s still holds. Proprietary code is dangerous, cloud computing worse. Both create lock-in—and it’s gone beyond trampling personal freedoms. It’s now an existential threat to liberal democracy, possibly civilizational with #AI in the mix.

* which is literally owned by #Microsoft, including my university. Microsoft used tech reporters as part of its marketing efforts to pushback against intitial attempts at adoption of Linux and free software in the public sector
