An e-trike for the intrepid photographer on the trails.
Driving a trike is not like driving a bike. You mostly steer a bike by leaning. With a trike, you have to deliberately point the front wheel exactly where you want to go. Sounds obvious, but it isn't. Leaning on a trike is so you don't tip over, not to steer. It is different.
This trike has excellent suspension. The tires could use more grip. Not quite enough juice for the steepest hills, but mild pedalling gets it done.

My trip back from the shop is:
1km flat village roads. 50kph SAFEISH
4km flatish highway. 100kmph DANGEROUS
1.5km hard climb 160m limit 80kph NOT-SO-SAFE
1.6km flat limit 80kmph low-traffic SAFEISH
0.8km dirt road climb 60m SAFEI have been looking and looking for something that will do the job, not get me dead, and be less than the default answer: 'a car'.
So far, I have 'a wheelbarrow, and your legs, and four hours unpleasant walking beside a 100kmph highway'
There is surely a better answer?

Join us this afternoon, Friday, July 19, 2024 for some fun out at Monte Creek Winery for their first annual Summer Night Market! We'll be there with a few trikes ready for demo rides including a freshly packaged Terratrike E-Maverick (complete with Bosch motor), some Bivo high flow stainless steel water bottles, lots of fun, and there will be quite a range of vendors attending!
Monte Creek winery is at 2420 Miner’s Bluff Road and the market runs from 5PM to 8PM.

So my cargo #etrike is temporarily dead (Hall sensor error that seems to be from in motor and not cables). As I'm in the midst of job hunting, I just ordered a new commuter #ebike. Went with a SOHAMO H3. I suspect when I rebuild the trike it will be used for cargo hauling only, the much more maneuverable little two-wheeler will probably be a lot safer riding along with traffic on 25 and 35 mph streets. The trike always did feel a tad hazardous at full speed.

For more than a month, since my cargo Lectric eTrike was delivered, all my visits to the grocery store (5 miles, roundtrip) have been on the trike. It's been fun, and my gas consumption (some trips are still too far, or time is a factor, or I need the pickup to haul something big) has been cut in half. Hope to do this through the winter.
