Dizer mal da UE é fácil e comum nas redes, há tanta trollagem anti-UE que até evito criticar, mas esta campanha sobre o novo sistema de entrada e saída da UE para estrangeiros é de um cinismo... Há muitos bons argumentos para este novo sistema, mas dizer que facilita a vida ao viajante que vem de fora não é, absolutamente, um deles. Mais lento, menos privacidade e eventualemente mais caro não é "easier", give me a break.

My experience of digital documents is that the absence of end user verification and testing features (prior to first encounter with a border guard) will turn out to be a big mistake
Given the hefty fines and potential costs for carriers I suspect the #brexit #gammon and petty offenders won't even get on the plane.

Ainda não entrou em vigor e já subiu de preço 🤣 era certo que ia subir, imposto mais fácil do mundo é aquele aplicado a cidadãos estrangeiros que não votam.. Mas sff acelerem mas é o esquema, que já vem com 20 anos de atraso em relação à ESTA que os europeus pagam para ir aos EUA.
PS: infelizmente isto vai levar a novas autorizações eletrônicas para países que a não exigiam..

The European Commission seeks to triple entry fee for short-term visa-exempt visitors.
The Commission has proposed bumping the fee for visa-exempt travellers arriving in the bloc for short stays from €7 to €20, a senior EU official has confirmed.
An ETIAS authorisation is required for short-term stays (up to 90 days) in these countries by nationals of visa-exempt states such as the UK, US, Canada, Brazil, and Australia.

TIL: sie wollen das Schengen Entry-Exit-System (#EES) wohl zum Oktober 2025 launchen (dafür sind die Kioske, die an allen internationalen Flughäfen in der EU auftauchen bzw. schon aufgetaucht sind).
#ETIAS soll dann im letzten Quartal 2026 folgen.

EU’s ETIAS travel authorisation delayed until 2026.
This year, the new Entry/Exit System (EES) for the EU and Schengen Zone will finally be launched. Coupled with this is the introduction of the ETIAS - the European Travel Information and Authorisation System - as part of the EU’s efforts to improve border security.
The ETIAS travel permit has been delayed yet again, however, until late 2026 with a transitional grace period.

A UE como destino turístico N°1 do mundo, no seu conjunto mas tb se olharmos os países individualmente (França lidera e Espanha é segunda) está a perder milhões com o atraso da implementação do #ETIAS e a taxa anunciada há já anos (7€) é uma pechincha por comparação à dos países que já implementam sistema equivalente (NZ, EUA, Canadá etc).
Recordar que quem lançou a trend foi os EUA com um nome bastante irónico, "Visa Waiver", e em parte como resposta ao 9/11. A culpa no fundo é da Alqaeda.

Enquanto a Europa vai adiando o seu #ETIAS (supostamente agora para maio de 2025), os países que já têm o seu vão aumentado a taxa. É um imposto fácil de aumentar, não impacta o eleitorado. Também não afugenta os turistas com poder de compra (os que interessam). A tendência é esta, bem podem fazer rankings de passaportes isentos de vistos... Mas se o ranking for rigoroso, para um passaporte europeu a lista é bem curta.
