@gamliel Сайт Публичного пира использует #ETag с одной целью: если страница с прошлого раза не изменилась, ответить #HTTP-статусом 304 (ресурс не изменился, показать кэшированную версию).

Отличить, используется ли ETag для слежения, можно, (почти) одновременно запросив его с разных IP-адресов. Значения должны быть одинаковыми. Если же значения ETag для одного ресурса разные, похоже на слежку. Но как сайт может доказать свою честность тем людям, которые не умеют делать такую проверку?

Для слежки за посетителями #сайты могут применять не только #куки, но также #HSTS и #ETag.

#etag 也真的是太草率了, 任何人只要知道車號 / 身份證號 / 電話號碼, 都可以查到 etag 在哪扣了款, 還可以設定電子發票載具, 連個簡訊認證的錢都要省 =_=!

Quick question for folks who understand HTTP caching on reverse proxies like Squid or Cloudflare. If I have a GET REST endpoint responding with 200 OK and the following headers:

Cache-Control: public, max-age=3600  
ETag: "123-a"

The proxy should cache and serve the response without hitting the underlying server more than once for the first hour, then send a request with If-Match: "123-a" when the cache goes stale, right? Is there any reason why it wouldn’t?

Well well well, I've just discovered that long-standing (since ~2008) bug with #Apache 2.4 and #ETag and #mod_deflate which has been preventing full bandwidth savings (304 responses) on auto-compressed files such as text...
