Reminder für verbliebene Windows10-Nutzende:
Nächste Woche ist wieder WindowsPatchDay. Das ist jetzt nicht neu, weil es jeden 2. Dienstag im Monat geschieht.
ABER: Weitere Windows10-SicherheitsUpdates gibt es nur für diejenigen Nutzer:innen, welche sich für Extended Security Updates (ESU) angemeldet haben.
Das geht allerdings kostenlos nur mit einem einem angemeldeten Microsoft-Konto. Wer das nicht will, zahlt - muss sich aber auch zum zumindest zum Zahlen anmelden.
Wie auch immer: Die Zeit drängt. Am 11.11.2025 ist das MHD für Windows10 ohne ESU abgelaufen!

One of the benefits of installing Azure Arc is ESUs are billed monthly & you can turn off ESUs at any time.
For example:
❌ In the past, customers had to pay for a full 12 months of ESUs per server by buying a which is generally the same cost as the full WS license.✅ Now if you upgrade your WS2012 svr or move it to Azure 2 months later & no longer need ESUs, you can 'turn off' ESUs on those servers via Azure Arc & only pay for a 2 months.

Only in cases where a WS2012 svr cannot connect to Azure Arc, may one request an exception - which may not be granted.
Steps:
1. Document why your WS2012 svrs can't connect to Azure Arc.
2. Submit the scenario to your Microsoft Commercial Exec to escalate. If you don't know who that is, try your LAR.
3. If approved, you will pay for a full 1yr of ESUs for each server, roughly the same as the svr license.
4. The MAK key is in the M365 Admin Center in 3 days. -
Attention Windows Server 2012 admins:
Q: Were you planning on buying Extended Security Updates (ESU) on Oct 10th when WS2012 is end of life?
Please note: ESU's are only available for WS2012 VMs that are:
✅ covered by Software Assurance
✅ installed with Azure ArcYou cannot purchase a MAK key from your LAR to download from VLSC 'like you did for WS2008'. The ESU SKU was removed from the price list months ago & isn't available.

Meine erste digitale #Modellbahn-Lok war vor vielen Jahren ein gelber #EuroRunner von #Piko: 40 € bei eBay. Beim Fahren machte sie seltsame Geräusche und ich entdeckte beim Öffnen den überhaupt nicht erwähnten Digital-Decoder.
Am Wochenende preiswert einen weiteren gelben #ER20 geschossen, um endlich ein Chassis für mein seltenes #IntEgro-Gehäuse zu bekommen. Was soll ich sagen: In der Lok steckte ein #LokPilot 4 von #ESU.
Irgendwie bringen mir Pikos Kanarienvögel wohl Glück. #SpurTT
