  1. You cannot provide essential infrastructure AND say you make cybersecurity e.g. ransomware decisions as business decisions e.g. weighing whether security or ransom costs more. Essential means essential #shapingCybersecurity #transnationalUtilities #digitalGoverance #essentialInfrastructure #AIEthics

  2. CC: Europe is doing this for some time but no delivery [false] Do you see a time of anything happening.

Khan: common carrier and non discrimination. Antitrust and competition rivalry for discipline, but where natural scale, we do have to use other tools: structural separations, interoperability, etc.

[they are both kind of talking about the #transnationalUtility #essentialInfrastructure things I'm harping on about, see my pinned toots]
    #antitrust

  3. Some definitions of #EssentialInfrastructure. As I understand it, once such is identified, it should be subject to different regulation than ordinary corporate infrastructure. This is where utilities come from, e.g. electricity and phone networks. lawinsider.com/dictionary/esse

  4. @natematias @owasow My concern is the opposite. We have essential infrastructure we haven't identified as such or governed as utilities because since we "won the cold war" we stopped enforcing antitrust. #Inequality has skyrocketed, and with it (like usual) #polarisation #polarization & volatility. We need government intervention to secure this resource, in fact transnational multi-government involvement.
