  2. I do think it's cool that when you want a bridge now, you just build it somewhere else and then drive it up the highway to where you need it.

    This is the new Corlears Hook footbridge on Manhattan's Lower East Side, before installation. At least it had a shorter drive than the Delancey Street bridge they placed earlier this year.

  3. It's not often that you see a bridge just calmly driving down the highway.

    The new Delancey Street footbridge was assembled at Corlears Hook, about a quarter mile south. When it was ready, they closed the highway for the night, drove the bridge up the road, and lifted it into place with two cranes.
