Detailed results of the public vote are in. Seems like Israel’s 2nd place isn’t due to “paid diaspora Jews”. Most of the votes came from countries where there are hardly any Jews! Switzerland, for example, has about 25,000 Jews, Portugal has 4,000, Finland has 1,900, and Albania has … about 50. Not 50,000. Fifty! The 36th country “World” gave Israel only 6 points.

People genuinly liked Noam Bettan’s song and wanted to show their support!

It was fun watching the ESC last night! I like Bulgaria’s winning song, and I love that Israel came in second and showed that the very vocal haters are the minority in Europe!
I was also thrilled that so many classically trained voices were represented in the competition, though I don’t understand why so many contestants clearly sang at the limits of their vocal range? So many intonation issues!
Maybe there should be more rest days between semifinals and the final.
