The Fujimori government produced its National Education Plan on 14 September in which it seeks to correct the texts used in schools to describe aspects of the conflict with Sendero Luminoso in the 1980s and 1990s. It plans to get rid of what it sees as “political” or “ideological” interpretations of this period and to eradicate the notion of a “internal armed conflict”.
