  1. Clint Eastwood’s superb directorial debut Play Misty For Me (1971). Classic suspenser/erotic thriller. Amazing performance by Jessica Walter. I love that Eastwood did not cast himself as a conventional hero. Just a regular guy out of his depth.

  6. Phillip Noyce's 1993 Sliver, scripted by Joe Eszterhas and starring Sharon Stone, has a poor reputation. In fact it's a superb provocative intelligent morally ambiguous erotic suspense thriller about voyeurism. I love that building.

  7. Carroll Baker stars in Umberto Lenzi's 1969 proto-giallo Orgasmo. Baker is a rich widow who gets mixed up with a much younger brother and sister. Baker thinks she's in control. She isn't. Very stylish, lots of unhealthy eroticism and decadence.

  8. The Killer Is One of Thirteen (1973) is a Spanish giallo or rather proto-giallo, these films being stylish decadent erotic thrillers rather than gorefests. Sadly this one has the decadence but it's slow, very unsexy and not stylish enough.

  9. Art-house meets giallo in Tinto Brass’s Deadly Sweet (1967). Has a Pop Art verging on psychedelia visual style. Imagine a giallo made as an homage to Blow-Up but in the style of a Guido Crepax comic. Quirky, witty and slightly perverse. Superb.

  10. A Quiet Place To Kill (1970) is a superb stylish early-period Umberto Lenzi giallo. Lots of twisted emotional and erotic relationships that take deadly and unexpected turns. Carroll Baker is fantastic. I love pre-Argento giallos.

  11. Klute (1971), a psycho-sexual thriller with a neo-noir flavour, a 70s paranoia movie, a psychological drama, a love story. Great performances by Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland. One of the two best major studio mainstream movies of the 70s.

  12. CRIMES OF PASSION (’84): Well, this is a weird one. Maybe I shouldn’t have been surprised from what I read since it’s a Ken Russell, but… this was my first Ken Russell. Anyway, a trashy but strangely highly compelling watch. Kathleen Turner is highly strung businesswoman by day, hooker by night. Much exploration of her dual nature as she falls for married man, tries to avoid psycho “minister” Anthony Perkins. Love all the neon flooding the night scenes. #eroticthrillers #80sfilms
