🎉 Thomas Boehm (MPI Freiburg & Tübingen) erhält seinen dritten ERC Advanced Grant – bis zu 2,5 Mio. €!
Im Projekt ImmunoPlast erforscht er das Immunsystem von Tiefsee-Anglerfischen. 🐟 Diese können zentrale Immunkomponenten abschalten – was ihre bizarre Fortpflanzung erst ermöglicht. (Stichwort: sexueller Parasitismus)
Die Erkenntnisse können Behandlungen bei Organtransplantation & Autoimmunerkrankungen voranbringen.

Der Europäische Forschungsrat fördert die Projekte von Prof. Dr. Johanna Pink und Prof. Dr. Marlene Bartos mit jeweils rund 2,5 Millionen Euro über fünf Jahre.
🧠 Prof. Dr. Marlene Bartos, Neurowissenschaftlerin an der Medizinischen Fakultät, erforscht mit „ReMember-CA3“ die Mechanismen, die es dem Gehirn ermöglichen, Erinnerungen zu bilden, zu unterscheiden und auch nach langer Zeit wieder abzurufen.
📚 Prof. Dr. Johanna Pink, Islamwissenschaftlerin am Orientalischen Seminar, untersucht in ihrem Projekt „TabA – Tafsīr beyond Arabic“, wie Traditionen der Koranauslegung von Westafrika bis Südostasien im 19. Jahrhundert zur Entstehung der islamischen Moderne beitrugen.

Blazej Grabowskis Projekt „META-LEARN“ zielt darauf ab, die Entwicklung von #Simulationsmethoden für das Materialdesign zu optimieren. Dafür kombiniert er quantenmechanisch-fundierte Methoden mit Konzepten aus dem #MaschinellenLernen.
Laura Na Liu und ihr Team werden wissenschaftliches Neuland im Bereich der #Nanotechnologie erkunden: Im Rahmen des Projekts „Engineered DNA Moiré Superlattices (DMoS)“ sollen spezifische Eigenschaften von #DNA genutzt werden, um neuartige Moiré-Materialien zu entwickeln und neue Möglichkeiten etwa in der Spintronik und Nanophotonik zu eröffnen.
