It's the #Friday afternoon graveyard shift, and I have just had my final client call of the week. Just some tidying and planning to do.
I love the first stirrings of #life in the #garden, and as well as #snowdrops, we also have a few cultivars of #Winter Aconite or #Eranthis.
This one is called Gruenling, which I'm reliably informed is German for #Greenfinch.
It is small yet perfectly formed.

The #Eranthis cilicia (Winter #Aconites) in the grass meadow are just about beginning to flower. They will grow considerably taller. Another important plant for early #insects.

We have a few different cultivars of the humble winter aconite that very observant folk have discovered in their gardens.and other places over the years.
This is one of my favourites which was originally found by Erich Pohle who called it Grünspecht or Green Woodpecker in English.
The outer petals are streaked with a vibrant green whilst all the inner petals are pure gold.
Wonderful.
Gardening and observation go hand in hand.
