  1. New paper, with Kirill Kovalenko, Gonzalo Contreras, Stefano Boccaletti and Rubén Sánchez.

People have noticed that, in higher-order networks, synchronization is often explosive, and that cluster synchronization happens very rarely, if ever. We explain why, by showing that symultaneous dynamical equitability across layers or interaction orders is necessary and sufficient for cluster synchronization, except if the coupling functions depend linearly on each other. Since the probability of randomly satisfying this condition is exceedingly low, cluster synchronization is precluded in such networks.

  6. Either ALL of us enjoy the affirmation of basic humanness via the ability to exercise ALL of our human rights...

...or, in essence, none of us have any rights, human or otherwise, to speak of.

"The changes we have to have in this country are going to be for the liberation of all people, because nobody’s free until everybody’s free."

  7. @internetarchive have officially opened the Call for Proposals for the #ai4lam Fantastic Futures 2023 Conference! 🥳 🤖

We want to hear your best ideas for #AI in #GLAM related workshops, panels, presentations and talks! We're thinking about #tools and #technology, #ethics and #equitability, and of course #artificialintelligence

The call closes on 31 July. More information on topics and how to apply can be found on their website here: ff2023.archive.org/pages/call_

We can't wait to see you there! 🇨🇦

  8. There is a misleadingly unrealistic illustration from #MetropolitanPolice is based on a prevalence of 1% - implying a watchlist of 700,000 people (1% of the UK population).

#Police also emphasise #equitability and #fairness without reference to how and where facial recognition will be placed.
