This post describes an EPUB 3 file that presents audio clips and flashcard-style toggling of individual Georgian phrases.

The material is derived from a book called Beginner's Georgian by Dodona Kiziria published by Hippocrene.

I'm well out of my lane now, making language education resources. But this is the exact presentation of text/audio that I wanted when I started learning Georgian from this book.

@mcnees Apple Books uses the ePub standard. I think it has reasonably full support for ePub 3? I don't know if ePub 3.3 can do everything you're suggesting.

Of course, tools are a big issue too, as creating ePub books by hand is painful. Hashtagging this in case someone with more subject expertise can chime in.

J'ai tellement de trucs chelou sur Kobo que je pense que je vais faire un export de mon bouquin dédié pour les Kepub.

- EPUB : version la plus conforme au standard.
- KEPUB : version avec fonctionnalités et correctifs spécifiques aux Kobo.

Comme ça, les lecteurs d'EPUB qui fonctionnent bien ne seront pas impactés par les hacks spécifiques aux liseuses Kobo.

A new preview of epubcheck has just been released by the Daisy consortium. Yay!

Why is this interesting even if you are not an EPUB developer or publisher? If everything goes as planned, W3C publishes a new version of EPUB next year. A W3C standard will be published with an industry quality, comprehensive testing tool made available to publishers and authors. This is certainly newsworthy imho...
