Attorney Phang sued Todd Blanche on April 27, because DOJ was violating the #Epstein Files Transparency Act. On June 25, Judge Sullivan granted her preliminary injunction, ordering DOJ to address disputed redactions, underlying FBI notes, foreign language records and the legally required redaction log. She explained today: "The wheels of justice move very slowly for our taste. But a judge has to lay a record” before reaching the point where “I am holding you in contempt.”
At Aug 13th 2-hour hearing, Judge Sullivan repeatedly pressed DOJ about its handling of the case and warned that continued noncompliance could lead to contempt. Judge: "The public and the victims deserve to know what the hell is going on in this case." Phang's takeaway: "He's really laying the foundation for them to be held in contempt.”
